Operating since 1967
The love of the steam engine was the beginning of this museum. During Pioneer Days these steam engines are started up for demonstrations and a parade on Sunday around the grounds.

Donated from the Harry Lay estate to the SPCMIC in 1997

1905 American Abel
1905 American Abell
Owned by SPCMIC this is the oldest engine in our collection. Very few of this small, early model were produced. In 1967 it was moved to the Ted McLean farm to form the basis of the first Pioneer Day which led to the establishment of the SPCMIC.

Owned by David Maclean this engine was one of the catalysts for the beginning of the SPCM

Owned by Allan Lowe & Robert Moncrieff. One of the most popular mid-sized steamers ever built, it is now used for threshing, parades & demos at the museum.

Owned by Brett Gunn. Used at Bob Gunn's farm for breaking land, threshing & sawmill work.

1909 Rumely

Owned by Tony Lieverse, Jim McCallister & SPCMIC. The largest steamer in Alberta & one of only 8 left in existence. This engine currently runs the SPCMIC sawmill.
1914 Waterloo

Owned by Gordon Mclean. There were only 8 of this model built of which only 2 remain in existence.
